Looking for suggestions
So right now I have Kreacher in a ten gallon with an Aqua Clear 20 filter and sand substrate with huge river stones. I am hoping to acquire a 33 gallon long tank (that's 4ft long) in the near future and maybe get another Axolotl or two. I am just wondering what would be my best bet for filtration. I love the Aqua Clear filter. I love the filtration options and I have mine baffled with an extra sponge and a water bottle baffle so that the flow is not strong enough to stress my little guy out. I am curious what you folks think would be my best option if I am able to get this bigger tank. Here's what I've thought about for options
1. just get another AC 20 and put it on the other end, baffled the same as the one I have. I like this option as it is cheap and easy as I already buy the media replacements in 3packs and I love this filter! My only concern is a cover for the tank... I'd pretty much have to custom build a screen cover which could be tricky.
2. Replace the AC 20 with an AC 30 or AC 50. A bigger filter rated for the appropriate tank size. My concerns here are the price of the new filter will be more and the flow could be too harsh. I will still try to baffle the filter the same way my current one is, but I'm not sure how well it'll work. :/
3. Switch to an in tank filter. I was thinking either a tetra whisper in tank or the cascade with the sprayer bar. I've used tetra filters forever ago and they were easy... but I don't like how simple these to filters are as far as filtration media goes. I love how in my AC 20 I can fit a sponge, carbon, biomax chunks, and ammonia remover plus the extra sponge from the baffle and it has superior filtration. I'm worried with an in tank filter that I'm going to wind up with much less filtration and dirtier water.
Any suggestions would be nice. Also what has worked well for you guys? Thanks in advance!
