Could be a bunch of things, but maybe you could try offering live foods to change it up. Tubifex worms, blackworms, and earthworms are good options, especially earthworms. The movement of these food items should help stimulate feeding. Also, feeding a variety of foods would be beneficial anyways for making sure they get all the nutrients they need to be as healthy as possible.
Also I don't want to make it seem like filters are never a good idea. They're just not necessary for this species. If you're using a filter that doesn't create much water movement, they can help maintain water quality. I've been told sponge filters are great for this.
