i need to know if anyone has witness this before or read anything about this. my popei are still breeding occasionally and the other day i noticed a sperm packet on the substrate. (it had that day glow white look-so it stood out alot.) a while later (i was filming the group-but didnt catch this on tape-but i did catch one male in the act of eating the sole egg in the tank)i witnessed one of the large females consume the sperm packet-attacking it as if it was an egg almost-tugging at it to free it from the jelly....is this a common occurance i have not witnessed before?......p.s. these are well fed fat newts-so the concept of consuming it as a protien source is not a very valid one.
