Hello, have heard this (java moss) is great stuff for newt tanks, and every other plants I buy die in a few months - I think my lighing is too low. Where is a good place to purchase java moss? Also, I have tried different light bulbs in my tanks hood to create light for the plants I buy, but they seem to raise the water temp too high. Any suggestions on a specific brand of bulb? Thanks, Heather

Yea java moss is great stuff. You can sometimes find decent prices for it on www.aquabid.com. It' s under [Live Plants - Floating]. As for lighting I use those long workshop fluorescent. They seem to do the job. Home Depot has some fluorescent plant lights at a decent price than the pet stores ones.

Hi Heather

I use Java moss and Java Fern and Anubias nana nana. All three are thriving in low light environments. I also use Hornwart which holds its own pretty well.

Hope you sort something to your satisfaction Jeff

Thank you all for your suggestions. I hope to be able to bid on some moss soon,
Heather
