...when my newt expands his throat? (like a croaking frog?) I've seen the question on here before, but I don't recall where or what the answer was (or if it was even answered).
buccal respiration-they are breathing w/o taking air into the lungs, if you watch about every 4th or so expansion you will see them take deeper breath, and if they know they are being watched they will freeze up.
