Well the little p.waltl have grown so fast, and now they have become brave and defient young cannibals, and in an attemps to deter their efforts to eat one another, I have decided its time to transfer out the bigger ones into the heavely planted tank, that now houses one larger larvae and that young neotenic a.gracile that cannot make up its mind what it is. So he is out of luck as far as I can figure beacuse there is no way he can have his own tank, and allthough smaller then the axies, he is fairly close in size and specie and I think its time for him to meet his new tank mates. His overall reaction to the first visit was one of fear and resulted in his attachment to the rear of the filter, however, I know that was due to the white sand and open space more then the new found friends he had encounterd. If anyone thinks this decision to mix it up is without warrent and just not close enough in specie to justify, I would like to hear suggestions.
As for the larvae I had wanted to sort them by size, but they all seem to be too diffrent to really figure out who goes where, some are indeed bigger, but so many are in between, and the middle ones seems to be causing all the trouble, larvae of the same size biting arms and legs off and so forth. The only idea I have is to put them in a tnak with lots of cover in hopes they can keep busy searching for food and hiding as opposed to sitting on the bottom and sizing each other up. I have been feeding them so much that it boggles the mind to think they can move their little fat selves around just to bite at tails and legs of thier siblings, but tragity has struck on many occasion, and no one has been without loss in this great hiadus of carnage I have now been exposed to on a nightly basis.
Any help would be appreciated
