I have found two "household objects" that work well for sorting Daphnia by size. Although this method is rather primitive, I find it useful when the larvae are small and can't eat full-sized Daphnia yet.
The first one is a piece of mosquito netting fabric, which allows small and medium sized Daphnia to go through. To hold the netting in place, I put it inside a fish net.

The second one is a grease-splatter screen from the kitchen, and it allows only VERY small daphnia to go through.
