One of my little guys took his first steps onto land today. I was wondering how long I should wait before offering him some food.

I'd offer it right away. It probably won't eat, but keep offering it. That way it'll eat as soon as it's ready.

There's 2 options; either you provide life food (like springtails or fruit flies), but then it's hard to tell when they start eating. Or equally important, which ones eat and which don't.

Second option, use tweezers to provide food. You can monitor all the morfs like this. In my experience the best way to get them used to the tweezers is using life food like white worms. At start I didn't have chopped nightcrawlers, but once I started offering these they became their all time favourite in no time.

You'll find that some morfs start eating soon and some will take more time. But I'd try to offer food right away - even though they probably won't eat the first days or even weeks in some cases.

Good luck,
Joeri

Well I wont have to worry to much about monitoring them, I wasnt trying to breed, and it just happened, and I noticed a few eggs in the water and decided to hatch them out. I only have 3. 2 in the water and now 1 out. They 1 out of the water is about 2 weeks older than the others. It hatched way before them. I have blackworms (chopped) and fruit flies, and lucky enough, sprintails decided to breed in a couple of my tanks, so I will collect some of them. Thanx for the help.

You probably won't need much springtails, but they are very easy to culture once you have some. Just put them in a closed box in a dark, somewhat cooler place. I red that they eat fungus, but mine (that happened to be in my white worms culture) just eat bread and fish food. They breed faster than rabbits
