im looking at starting to feed our axies on earthworms and was wondering whether you have to let the worms pass the waste out of their systems before feeding them to the axies? or can you just rinse them and then feed them to the axies?
Cheers

Thank you jay, im off to do that right now

I would say it depends on where you got the worms: outdoors, or from a bait shop or pet shop? And it depends on the kind of worms, are they big gray ones, or small reddish ones?

i got them from the garden out the back as i couldnt find a bait shop open on sunday. i made sure the neighbours dont use chemicals in their garden before hand and most of them were small reddish ones but there were a couple of big grey ones.

I wouldn't worry about the gunk inside. If you are chopping the worms, most of the stuff inside comes out anyway. Or if you put the whole worm in a bare container for a few minutes, it will expel some of its gut contents. But what's inside isn't harmful.

cool cheers for that.
i can finally be at ease that im feeding them good food, i've been feeding them beef strips which i've heard isn't a good staple diet.

Hi ElleJay, a good time to hunt for worms is when it rains - check under any garden furniture; potplants, bricks/pieces of wood - that's how I started my collection off for the wormbins, sometimes at night with a torch and bucket too - my kids think its fun they can play outside and wormhunt in the rain!) Otherwise there's a few people on TM that sell them, if you run out.
