Snail sfor food ?

I have a freshwater aquarium and it has become home to snails !! They don't bother me as I have clown loaches to keep the numbers down.

My question is:

I am currently setting up a new tank to house an Axolotl and was wondering if it would be a good idea to introduce these snails to the Axie tank as a means of food, do they eat them and is it good for them if they do ??

Thanks for any help.

iv personally never seen my axies eat snails before, i think the snails move far to slow for the axies to react to them. i also dont think the axies would digest the shell very well but im not sure bout that one.

The shell thing was my main concern to be honest , thanks for your knowledge and I'll leave them out of there unless I hear any different. thanks again.

Mine loves snails! He eats the little ones like popcorn, so we have a bunch of bigger ones (1/2') to keep the tank nice and clean.

How does he go on with passing the shells !!?

Is there anyone else with any experiences for or against this ?

Make sure your snails are big enough not to be eaten.

I have 2 apple snails in my tank and at first Rosa had a go at the white one but now she hasn't touched them since. Been nearly 2 and a bit months.

I had some snails appear in my tank (as snails do - brought in with the plants I assume!). They were only little and I started off with two. One disappeared and I actually saw Hermes eat the other!! So yeah maybe bigger snails, definitely not small ones (though it seemed to do him no harm!)

Peyton "sucked" one of my ramshorn snails out of it's shell the other day.. he ate the flesh but not the shell (thank goodness).. apparently hubby saw all this and thought it was hilarious
