I just cant seem to keep my tank cool! I'm looking into maybe getting cooling fans but the site I normally buy off doesn't have any GRRR! I change the tank water (20-30%) every week and it stays cooler for a bit after that but at the moment it's about 22 C which is why I'm worried cos its not even very hot yet

. In the summer I was planning to alternate with big frozen bottles of water during the day to keep it cool but any other ideas would be great. Thanx

If it helps, I work on several sites.
One of my friends (aka, Wetsocks) has come up with an ingenious fan solution.

Maplins sell small solar panels (I mean very small) for £8, and Tescos have a small fan for about £4.
The solar panel has a motor attached to it already, so take the motor out of the fan and swap with the one on the panel.

Position so it blows across the water, and the panel where the sun will hit it (might be worth playing with the power your tank bulb emits - see if that works too), et voila - one very green, cheap tankfan!

I personally am using a CPU fan, converted especially for the job - but playing with electrics and transformers is risky, and should always be done and/or checked by professionals.
Again, Maplins are happy to help you, but this can be costly.
