Yikes.. I need some help...

Awhile ago I bought a male axolotl, and my female fell pregnant 3 times. I decided to put a divider in the tank approx 2-3 months ago.

Last night I came in to find my girl floating at the top of the tank acting strange. This was how she used to act before laying eggs, and last night I noticed her <font color="ff0000">&#149;</font><font color="ff0000">&#149;</font><font color="ff0000">&#149;</font><font color="ff0000">&#149;</font><font color="ff0000">&#149;</font><font color="ff0000">&#149;</font> bit had opened.

Obviously she layed no eggs, but I am wondering why this happened? Do you think she could be sensing the male is in the tank and preparing for breeding even though they cant get to each other?

I just worry that if she does this often, she is leaving herself open to get an infection?

It could be the stress from having gone through the 3 lots of egg laying, if it was in such a short space of time within each. My friends axie went through a 2nd spawn within a few weeks of the first lot being laid and she had similar symptoms to yours a couple of weeks after. He separated the male after the 2nd spawning; but his female was quite stressed. She's still not 100% so he has her totally separated from the others (I have 5 babies from her 2nd spawn).
