So today I put some new sand in my tank. I took my axies out for an hour while it set down. However it still seems cloudy looking from the top down. I also stepped on a rusty nail and it hurts really really bad. I am wondering if this is normal with adding sand

Changing to sand was SOOO stressful for me too, but yes its normal. My sand actually settled over night. It will definately take longer then an hr.

my sand settled pretty fast. i think the tank will just go murky coz of the bio load or whatever.
 
Have you had your tetanus jabs? If not then you should see a dr!! My sand took about 2 days to settle, although you can keep emptying and filling the tank and itll be gone after a few times.

Sand will take ages to settle. day or two.

Some people were suggesting adding the sand then the water, which has its merits.
 
Ow... sorry Jeff, sounds like a crappy day... Sand should settle down in a couple of days. I rinsed mine in the bucket for a long time, so had no problems. Hope things get better..!! What kind is it, and where did you get it?
 
Well the foot is going to make it despite an infection. Sand settled down just fine. The sand is some sort of white beachsand that has been used for display perposes, its very fine. Thanks for all the concern everyone!
