how do i introduce them to their new home when i get them? I read you got to hang them in their bag for a while in the edge of the water dipped in with the lid on, then open the bag and scoop some water in bit by bit gradually getting more until the temp is the same in the bag as in the tank and then release them. how long for though. is this right? the waters pretty high in my tank so i dont think i can just dip them in. i should just hold them there so theyre dipped in just abit then shouldnt i? are they nervous or scared when they first go in usually? i heard they can come up to you and watch you and they wait for you etc. is this true? also, can you get ammonia and stuff in the tank before you put them in? cos i treated it.

first of all, they are rather stupid animals they don't wait for anyone but they can learn to approach the front of the aquaria if they are used to get fed then. yes it is true that you should let them be in the bag for some hours just to get the right temperature, after that i tear some openings so the aquaria water flows in and get mixed up, the last thing i that you release them in the aquaria. you can get almost all your answers on axolotl.org
just want to add that they are hardy little fellows who doesn't demand more than an aquaria and some food

p.s. sorry for my bad english

Just floating the bag will gradually bring the temperature of the bag to tankwater temperature as Alexander stated, we left ours for about an hour or so before doing it

Avoid introducing any of the petshop water to your tank if possible. Keep a bucket and use a net (or colander works just as easily), tip axie gently into the net/colander leaving the water drain into the bucket. If you have a net cradle the axie so it doesn't swing and tip him into the tank... If using a colander cover with hand so he doesn't jump/flip out.

Ammonia won't really be introduced till you start cycling (by adding the axies and feeding them and when the excrete into the tank)
