Do axols malt??? mine is!

Yeh axolots do shed thier skin reguraly but they tend to eat it befor we see it. I think i saw some on my tank floor, then again it could be a ghost shrimp exoskelton.

it could also be its slime coat which normally happens when its irritated by something nasty, normally ammonia though. do you have readings for ammonia?

"Molting" is for birds. "Malt" is a whiskey or a chocolate drink.

I've always heard what sallies and axies do called "shedding." I love the way thier little skins look like empty pantyhose, hehe.

I wasnt aware that axies "shed". Not in the way that herps do anyway - snakes for example.

im not sure about the shedding to be honest, there was that post a while ago of one shedding that was actually some other sort of sallie. if it does happen im sure more of us would have seen it and have reported on it but i think ed said it does? never seen it myself

Yeh me either Sharn - never seen it
.. im curious now.

Ed.. are you able to explain/help?
Is this true? Do axies "shed"?

I have two Northern Green Tree frogs, you should see them shed, they do it about once a month, its quite amazing, 1st time I realized what was happening I called in the family to watch my poor daughter was gagging, LOL, they pull the skin up their body similar to taking off a jumper from over your shoulders and they shove it in their mouth coz it's so nutritional for them, it is an amazing process.

As far as I know axies do shed their skin but only if there is something wrong with water or if the temp change really fast.
