Hi,

I have just purchased a yellowish (female i think) axolotls with a tank from a friend. I have set it up at home. the tank is 35x25x40 and has a filter. I have put in a rocks blue coloured gravel and an oxygen plant. I have fed it live fish. I cant seem to figure out how old it is. I would love to breed them. Whats the best way to look after my new pet? any recomendation?

Also i am after a good piture of an axolotls because i am getting a tatoo, but cant seem to find any decent art work.

any help would be greatly appretiated.

Thank you.

visit www.axolotl.org it has a heap of info.

worms are a great staple, but you can feed them alot of other things too like bloodworms, blackworms etc.
we generally go against feeding live fish just because they can nip at axolotls gills and if theyre pet store bought they generally hold alot of parasites. home bred ones are much healthier but still not the best option IMO.
have a look in the axie gallery. theres a lady called rheann and she is a wicked drawer and shes posted a few drawings. if you cant find them let us know and well post a link for ya. welcome to the forum!

So i brought some frozen bloodworms, what do i do now? do i just drop a square in the water every third day? still cant find any good axolotls images.

take a look at 'three hours of axie artwork' in the axie gallery, its quite far down. also try http://www.caudata.org/forum/messages/793/49082.html?1133262599 if you like her style maybe you could ask her to draw you a pic?
with the frozen blood worms you can either hand feed by tweezers (i find this is best, less mess) or drop them in onto a shallow dish/ flat rock etc. if it can eat the gravel you cant drop it onto there, and if it is of edible size i would change it

hope this helped
