hey guys, i was just wondering if axies were able to move large rocks around? lol cos i was planning to stack some large rocks on one another to form a hiding place... im cycling atm and whilst doing the hsc!!! eek! and cant wait to get my first axies!!!

Stefan - I would use some aquarium silicon on the rocks just to be safe. Axolotls "spaz out" every now and then and swim hard and fast into objects in their tank.

Axies are TOUGH Lol.

I bet they could move the rocks around and we wouldn't want crushed axie now would we?

yip, they move stones,my guys make gaps in my carefully placed rocks all the time, and dislodge weighted down trees while "scooting" so i wouldnt recommend making a tunnel unless you stick them together as Cynthia said.

My axie seems to "dig" in her river rocks and manages to throw them around some of them are quite large. She kind of goes upright head first into them and makes a right racket.

you mean like bite them in the middle and leave the two sides off?

My axie does that too - the little weirdo!

She likes to bite them in half, then refuses to eat one half...so it crawls around the talk for days afterwards.

Every now and then she'll find it, suck it up and then spit it back out again, then off it crawls again, probably looking for its head....she's quite sick actually!! lol

<font color="000000"><font face="arial,helvetica"></font></font>}they work in mysterious ways!
Hey guys. My names jo, im a newbie to this site and this convo interested me re strength and the moving around of rocks. My 2 males are quite the little hercules. I wake up to find the large rocks in a different spot every morning. i get scared that they are going to hurt themselves as they are quite heavy rocks, they hold down about three plants each.

When I had river rocks as substrate, mine used to pile them up. And they regularly move all but the biggest rock I have in there (it weighs about 5 pounds, and if they can move it, I'd be getting a reenforced tank!)

not only do they have a go at the rocks but they also have a go at the thermometer i've got in there. i suspect its the bigger male thats doing it though, he's the only one i've busted near it.
All i can here is a morse code like sound as the thermometer touches the glass - ALL NIGHT. I really have no idea what he is doing. He's a funny little bugger. I just hope he doesn't hurt himself.

just make sure its not a mercury type thermometer, cause if they smash it it will poison them..
i had the same prob so changed to digital...

ohhhh thanks rob!! will do. I'm assuming digital would given a more accurate reading anyhow, so i might change it anyway.
thanks again

jojo

Jo-Leen, maybe it IS morse code and he's trying to communicate. haha

aaaaaaaaaahahahahaahaha
HEY - it would help if i knew morse code then huh?
