hi guys! I was just wondering if anyone has experienced air bubbles in little axies bellies, they are about two weeks old and I've been finding them floating (still alive) and I can see a tiny air bubble in their bellies. I put them in a smaller container when I see them so they are closer to the bottom so they can reach the food. when I come out in the morning they are on the bottom, I put them in the bigger container with the rest and they are fine! does anyone know whats happening because this keeps going on. I have an air stone in a big hobby bin and do water changes every day. am I loosing them?none of them have died but is this a signal?
any help would be great, even if your not sure.

Mine kept getting air bubbles until he was about three months old, and he still gets them every now and then. it was really funny to see him belly up, swirling around and around... It does stress them out to not be able to reach the bottom, so moving them to a smaller container is a good idea. other than that, i guess just wait for them to pass it.

The bubbles are normal, cause when they are larva they don´t know how to release the bubbles quite right.

few! it's so good to have this forum! so much experience.thank you so much everyone, big help! poor little things.

At such a young age, getting air bubbles can be caused by not feeding enough. How much are you feeding? I wouldn't worry about the airstone if you have shallow water and are doing daily water changes. Until mine were developing back legs, I kept them in just over an inch of water with daily changes.

Good luck.

I am feeding them twice a day for about half an hour, so that they all get some (well I thought they were), if some aren't getting food I seperate them. They are feeding on frozen baby brine shrimp (tryed to find daphnia but none around). It's hard to keep track of them there are so many! he he (have plenty of people who want them though). I put two fingernail sized pieces in some water then distribute it all with an eye dropper (more than the pet shop told me too but theirs looked so unhealthy). I have to take out some later. does that mean they aren't eating enough? mine are in about two inches shall I change this? thank you so much

p.s do you remember what age yours were at when they began growing their legs?

At 2 inches, you can start feeding them bigger food. If you can get your hands on some live blackworms or whiteworms (or grindal worms), I would try those. They should start growing their front legs any time. They might already have them. Sometimes they blend in with the gills and you can't tell. Try separating out one or two and looking at them from behind or from underneath (use a glass bowl or dish).
