I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has taken the time to answer my questions. I know I post alot, but I wasn't really prepared to have an animal I knew *nothing* about dumped on me...
Here's a brief update:
Allegro's made some HUGE improvements! (can't you tell I'm excited!) He's continuing to pass gravel which has definately caused some of his bulk to go away. He has finally begun to explore his environment and LOVES to pull up any plant he possibly can. He's still on the pellets that his previous owner fed him, but we're going to try starting him on something a little bit better later this week.
The most exciting improvement (woohoo!!!) is that his gills are growing back. The person who had my baby before kept him in a tank with fish and (i recently found out) frogs. When he came to me, he had none of the little feathery (things) left on his gills and they were completely white, like the rest of his body. Well, they're now BRIGHT red and starting to look really pretty!
I really just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone that took the time to answer my questions and help me educate myself. You were all a big help. It's just good to know that he may make it after all.
extra big thanks to Kapo and Kaysie
