Hey,
Quick question...is handling Axies safe (underwater in their tanks i mean)? Do you have to cool your hands first under cold water?
Thanks

you shouldn't handle them unless absolutely necasary because of the acids on your hands.

You should try and avoid handling them as much as possible unless you absolutely need to, ie: transferring from tank to container

The amount of soap or detergents, perfumes, cleaning products, skin/body lotions and other stuff that we handle throughout the day can also damage their slimecoat.

ok, wasn't sure only because i have seen some images of people holding there axies feeding them, so i just wondered.
Cheers

Kia ora Tasha,

One of our axies seems to like touch he will rub against my hands if I am feeding him or doing anything in his tank. He is quite gregarious and very curious he will always come over to see whats going on. The other one hides except for feeding but if you brush against it, its gone.

The key factor as Kapo has said is not damaging the axies slime coat.
I have 5 youngsters that think that this sucks, but the axies health comes first.

I am always paranoid about what I might be introducing to the tank anyway, so I wash my hands with clean water and no soaps before I put my hands into their tanks.
