So I have read about refrigerating newts and axolotls for more than a few kinds of symptoms and I am still a little confused about the process and how it helps. I wondered if anyone could explain it (such as when, how, how long, and what for) to me a little more or direct me to a link where I can read about it.
The reason I am asking is because I bought a paramesotriton chinensis the other day which seemed to be in decent condition though it's tank mate was nearly dead - had a large infected wound on it's face. The one I bought has eaten and seems to be doing alright though it does not seem to be active at all but I assume that could be stress from it's previous conditions. Would it be helpful to chill this newt to reduce stress and make sure it doesn't also have infections or should I wait and see how it goes for a while longer?
