I just got some Tylototriton shanjing and one has some of it's tail is missing and you can see the bone. What should I do?

This is not that uncommon in newly imported newts due the method in which they are collected and then shipped.

Sometime with tail wounds the blood flow to the sections of the tail below the wound are cut off requiring that is be amputated.

In addition, the dead tissue should be removed to prevent further complications. I would suggest seeking the advice of a vet. In addition, the use of sylvadine cream (prescription only) has been very effective in assisting with the healing of lesions like this in Tylototriton.

Thanks Ed,

Your wright they were imported not to long ago, I'm going to keep it in a tub away from the others till it heals.

I order 8 Tylototriton shanjing, but they sent me 7 Tylototriton shanjing, and 2 that are all black with red hands to replace the other Tylototriton shanjing. I'm not sure what they are yet but they look like Tylototriton asperrimus.

Update:

Well the one with the bone sticking out of it's tail is doing fine, it likes waxworms alot. I lost one of the other Tylototriton shanjing, Dont know what happend, I got home from work and the newt was dead. All the others Tylototriton shanjing are doing good too.

The other newts (the black one's with red hands) are doing fine too, but they like to hang in the water dish under a big pice of bark that's half in the dish and half on the land.
