i'm just curious if anyone has ever tried? they say not to house paddle tails with dwarf frogs but i have had my paddle tail with my frogs for 3 years with no problem? so i was wondering if anyone has tried to do this so i can try?

What for? I mean..even if they magically got along....why would you risk? You might have been lucky until now, but putting your animals into a risky, and stressfull situation just for the amusement of watching them together doesn´t quite sound ok to me....
Not trying to be rude, just trying to make you understand....if you can only have one tank....then enjoy your paddletails, but if you want more species..then get more tanks....The health and weell-being of your animals should be way more important than your amusement.

I've posted a similar response to one of your other posts, Lordniko:
I wonder what temperature you house these animals at? also I'm surprised that the frogs didn't get eaten yet. Do not mix species- golden rule, any 'success' in doing so is only 'until one day...'

i never really have checked the temp but i don't have a heater and the dwarf frogs have lived thru the winter without one? I just want to let you guys know that i'm not new to keeping newts or anything i'm just curious to see if anyone has ever tried it. i know all the horror stories about paddle tails.

No, I have never tried to house anything with my paddle tails. The well being of my animals is not worth any risk, and since both species don't have the same care requirements I see no point in pushing the envelope. CFB's are non aggressive, small newts. They are also brought into the country for the pet trade in very unhealthy conditions. The likelihood of getting one in good health is, in my opinion, low. I do have 2 Co's and like them very much. I think they are a good newt species to keep and if you want some I think they are a good choice. Just make sure you quarantine any new additions, and don't mix species.

Oh, and newts like cooler temps, temps that are far too cool for frogs. To meet both species requirements they would need to be housed in separate tanks. I would strongly advice you to get a tank thermometer.

Since you know all the horror stories about paddle tails, I'm surprised that you're asking this question. You've probably seen it, but there's a photo on this page of exactly what a hungry paddletail does to an ADF:

As to your original question... yes, it has been tried (search the forum archives). And some people have reported many months going by with no problem. However, given the natural disposition of paddletails, I can't imagine how having a decorative multi-species display is worth the risk.

Since this question involves more than just Cynops, I'm going to move this thread to the general newt section.
