newt or salamander help

i want to know breeds of newts or salamnders that can live in a 10 gallon tank mostly water with a rock that sticks out of the water and a 10 in platform

You definitely want to stick with the smaller species. I have never kept them personally but Cynops orientalis comes to mind.

You could keep a couple alpine newts in a tank that size, or Notophthalmus, Cynops, and smaller bodied Triturus species. Some species won't even use the platform because they're totally aquatic. Check out caudata culture for species specific information on some of these species, if you're planning on getting a newt, it's best to know as much as possible about them to have the best success.
