my sons chinese f.bellies produced 4 eggs shortly after we bought them.we lost 2 to fungus but the other 2 were ok and 1 hatched this morning!i have frozen cyclops as i read they like these and it was the smallest food i could get hold of.i have defrosted some and dripped it in front of the newtlet with a pippet.i will read up what i can now but any additional advice people can give would be great,i really want the little guys to make it!cheers.:D

Hatchlings won't eat food that isn't moving. Newly 'born' daphnia would be much better. You can also hatch baby brine shrimp.

just had an idea regarding newt hatchlings instead of trying the pond water method (didnt want to risk introducing any disease or dragon fly larve) I bought a fry tank used for baby fish so that I can keep my hatchlings in the tank without the risk of them becoming dinner for their parents. seems to be working well so far theres plenty of microscopic food for them from the daphnia that the grown ups are eating.:D
