I have recently planted out my newt tank and would like to keep them alive. I've seen lots of acquatic plant feeder online - but I am not sure which (if any!) are safe for use with amphibians. I don't want to give my newts chemical burns! Has anybody used one of these products safely?

Sorry, the post topic should read: aquatic!

If your plants are doing OK you won't need plant food.
The substances your plant need is dependent upon the water you use, the food you give etc etc and of course plant species. But most of the time you don't need fertilization.
Just wait what will happen and what kind of algae you'll get. They tell a lot about the possible shortages.

PS: Al the fancy stuff like CO2 fertilizers are rubish. You only need them when you're trying to grow land plants under water. Real aquatic plants can grow underwater and do not need this. This sounds ridiculous but most aquarium plants are not really aquatics but marsh plant.
