Ok, so I got my first two axies three days ago, Elphaba (wildtype) and Galinda (leucistic), they are only about 7cm long. Yesterday and the day before I fed them both frozen bloodworms, I just scraped a bit off a cube and gave it to them, they probably had... ermm... about 10-15 each, maybe less, only a very little amount. I put some more in the tank and they seemed to go but I'm not sure if they got sucked up by my filter or eaten...

Today I went to the shop to buy some earthworms and some live bloodworms because I needed some more food and I thought some live food would be good. The earthworms were only small, no more than 3cm diameter, I cut them up into bits about 5mm long and fed one (about 6cm long) to each of them. They seemed to like it but I am pretty sure this was too much as I think Elphaba was sick as the bits of earthworm reappeared around her looking a bit nasty. I'm worried that I might have stressed her and because she's been sick maybe she hasn't had enough to eat now... I don't know, I'm really confused. Also Elphaba is a lot less active than Galinda and definitely seems to be the subordinate out of the two, when I was feeding them bloodworms I was worried that Galinda was eating more of them than Elphy, is it normal behaviour for her to just be lazing around in the hides and corners all the time? Galinda swims around a lot more and just somehow looks happier, maybe I'm stressing too much? I don't know.

What food and how much would any of you feed axies of this size?

Thanks for any help!!!

If your axolotls are 7cm long, and you're feeding them 6cm sections of earthworms, that's too much. Feed them pieces about as long as their head.

Ok thanks, i thought it would be too much, just i think I got carried away because they were eating it - is that all they need then once a day? A piece about the size of their head? How about bloodworms, how many of them?

thanks :)
