I aquired a blue spotted salamander last Friday. He is 5 inches long and his name is blue. He is most likely a hybrid. My grandpa found him while digging and put him in a jar for me. On my way home I dropped a worm in the jar and he ate it. He has not eaten since. Is that ok? He has been in two cages since Friday, maybe that is why. Also it hasnt been too long. He is in a 10 gallon aquarium with another blue spotted sal which is 2.5-3 inches. It has two hides, a water dish and a fake plant which they love to crawl on. I mist the cage daily. Here are some pics.

This should be fine if blue spotteds are any thing like yellow spoteds He will eat soon

He sure is a handsome little guy!:) I would just give him a couple days to get settled, but you should probably quarantine him before housing him with your other guys.

Today when I was misting his cage I started wondering where is little blue? I moved the hide and blue was there but little blue wasnt. I have not found little blue but blue is not fat in the belly so I think little blue is still somewhere in the substrate. I am worried about little blue. He never ate and then disapeared for 3-4 days now. But when I moved the hide blue came out and I fed him two tiny worms! I was so excited!
Does anyone here keep Ambystoma laterale, Ambystoma jeffersonianum, or hybrid? If so post some pics. I have not seen many other keepers of these species on this site and would like to see some more specimens!

I looked threw all the substrate only to come up with nothing. Blue must have ate little blue!
