Hi im new here, and i have to say this is the best website so far that i have seen. I live in southern california - in the inland empire - 43 yrs old . Just when you think everything is lost, i discover this website. Thank You John. I don't have any newts yet but i will. I'm very interested in the green newts - t. marmoratus. Hi Giacomo, love your salamanders. In california they put a stop to selling salamanders. again thank you John. when i was a kid a had my collection of salamanders c. pyrroghaster, eastern newts, and the spanish ribbed newts.. all this i believe are fairly easy to keep. they are like mice - reproduce all the time. Back then i kept mine outside in the back yard under trees in homemade ghetto cages. I cound't afford much so i had to make them myself. Except for the occasional redleg I got in a few, they all reproduced to me easily. I just loved watching the larvae grow from egg. Right now i have a year old water fountain in the yard of 270 gallons. I bought daphnia from a Discus fish, Supplier, and they did great in the fountain. cleaned the murcky water clear that i was able to see the bottom. That water fountain now in teeming with pond life animals, like rotifers, mayfly larvae, mosquitoes, dragonfly larvae which i kill when they get too big - planarians, and who knows what else is in there...snails also.I look forward to hear from you, and i do plan to keep my newts outside and just bring the babies inside...and from experience i better take it slow and not get carried away with my collection.:ufo::rofl:
