Hey all, I just joined the forum and I had a few questions about Axolotlses.

I have been reading about them for the past few days and I was wondering it they get along with fish and eels. I have a 55 gallon tank with about 12 fish in it, all African cichlids about 5-7 inches, and 2 fire eels. I was wondering if they get along with larger fish at all. I would guess they would eat smaller ones but I have a big tank for them to swim around in.
I was also wondering if they need any dry places at all. I have been reading that they live in water most all of their lives and can also breathe through their skin like most amphibians. I was wondering if they ever go out of the water at all. Because my tank setup is full to the top because all I have is fish right now. I wasn't sure if it would stress them out or anything not to have some resting places on land.

I would not advise putting an axie in with your fish, the reason can be found here. Also they do not require a dry place as they are fully aquatic.

Thanks, I was sure there would be a few things that would make it real troublesome to mix the species together. Maybe I'll invest in another tank for just Axolotls, what size tank would you recommend for about 2 of em?

I would say that a 30-inch (29-gallon or 20-long tank) would be the absolute minimum for 2 axies. If you can get a larger tank than that, it would be better. In planning the tank, consider the need for good filtration and keeping them as cold as possible.
