Talking Hey there

Hey there, I'm new to this site as well as I have had my tank for only a little while.
I have two axolotls one is leucistic and the other is a wild type, they are siblings and are about four months old.I am learning constantly and I find keeping a healthy tank a challenge but I'm getting more confident with each day.I have gupppies and shrimp in my 50-60 gallon tank with the axies.I look forward to learning more and sharing the fun in this new adventure.Until next time,
Rhoni

I have amano (algae eating) shrimp. The axolotls haven't snacked on them as far as I can tell. My fish were a whole other story though, lol. There are a couple of red shrimp as well, the shrimp are good at staying clear of the big mouth and they really help keep the tank clean.

Welcome to the forums Rhoni! Glad you're loving them so much:) You'll get there with the water chemistry, just takes sometime.

^Abznabz, axolotls do eat anything that passes their mouth. Shrimp and small minow type fish such as white clouds or guppies are fine in your tank. The odd one will be eaten but it will not hurt your axies. Algae eating shrimp, cherry shrimp and other small shrimp are great in tanks. Stay away from large shrimp such as rock/fan shrimp. The odd shrimp can be digested no problem. I also suggest wood for shrimp so they can hide. The wood also will color your water like tea which axies enjoy as well:)
