Road closed so that salamanders can mate

Experts expect the closing of a local road will save many lives! But it is not your typical road closing.

A small stretch of a local road is used during salamanders mating. This closing will allow them to move across the road for mating. In fact, this should increase greatly the salamander population.

While most of the Wesselman Park salamander mating is during February and March, it also occurs later in the season. At this point it's unclear whether the commissioners will close the road again during this fall season."

Just in time for valentines day

That's great to see people caring enough to close roads for newts. I found this sign at a park near my home. Not as good as closing the road, but it's a nice thought.
