here is another that i actually applied for - the job is still open to applications. unlike my current situation these guys provide HOUSING!!! that is a big plus when you have to travel from another state.

Job Title: Amphibian Field Technician
Job Type: full-time temporary position
Opportunity location: north-central Iowa

Opportunity Description:

Dates: April 2 (or soon after) to late July

Description: Assist with Iowa State University/Iowa Fish & Wildlife Cooperative Research Unit project examining amphibian communities, contaminants, and chytrid fungus in wetlands of north-central Iowa. Work will be on public and private lands, in conjunction with wetland monitoring by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Duties may include: performing nighttime amphibian call surveys; setting up aquatic drift fences and funnel traps; identification of tadpoles captured in funnel traps; collection of swabs of tissue from adults, subadults and tadpoles for future analysis for chytrid fungus; disinfection of field equipment, and data entry.

Qualifications: Willingness to work long days in the field under all weather conditions and at odd hours. Must be able to work well both independently and with others and pay attention to details. Previous fieldwork experience, through a paid or volunteer position, is required. Experience with identifying and handling amphibians is required. Previous experience conducting amphibian call surveys is preferred. Must be working toward or possess a degree in natural resources, or have equivalent work experience.

Compensation: $10 per hour for 40 hours/week. Technician will be housed (free of charge) at an Iowa Department of Natural Resources field house in Lake Mills, IA. Technician will be an employee of Iowa State University.
