Wells' book - The ecology and behavior of amphibians
Petranka - Salamanders of the U.S.
Stebbins and Cohen - A natural history of amphibians

The Wells and Stebbins books are just more general but they have some pretty good info on sallies.

I was going to reccommend the Stebbins and Cohen book- it's excellent.

To have a quick reference for many old world species: this website is excellent and accurate, only decent papers were used to built up the sheets, and also notes on keeping and breeding in captivity....

science . naturalis - Salamanders of the Old World

Scroll through the species list.
