Default Salamandra salamandra

Today I visited the forest. There are several springs in this area, which are perfect habitats for Fire Salamander larvae. A lot of larvae drift from the more turbid parts of those rivulets to small pools, where they accumulate. Because they are cramped together in those small water bodies, some specimen lost legs and tails to their siblings as you can see in the pictures. Ouch, that hurts!

I sometimes find Sss larvae in puddles on forest roads and they are always much bigger and stronger than those living in their typical habitat.
