My pond has probably 100s of these really beautiful, and very under-apreciated newts. I put a few in an empty aquarium in my garden for a few minutes, to photograph.

A male:

Always though vulgaris and helveticus were un-apreciated. Very nice pics. It´s amazing how gorgeous this newts look in a high quality pic.

These guys are really spectacular! I'm jealous of the native European newts compared to the US ones. Now, that top photo, I would nominate for a calendar. It's really special, and those feet are crazy.
