I work at a LFS and my boss wants to breed these newts. If someone could tell me the names of the wholesalers (and website/phone #) of where they ordered theirs from it would be appreciated. He is experienced at breeding so dont worry about that part

Hi Justin,
Croc newts have been sporadically available at best. Almost all offered have been WC and are not the easiest to establish. I believe that all of us (who have posted anyway) who bought some of the animals that were imported last year experienced loss. This is my first attempt at breeding any sort of caudate and it is not easy (I have kept herps for years and bred maybe about a dozen species). With the notable exception of Michael Strom even the experienced caudate keepers have yet to have much success (at least here in the US). I suppose what I am trying to explain is that with croc newts it is not quite as easy to just order some and have them breed. There has been some concern in the past about directly naming sources of WC animals so I will personally refrain from that but any available usually show up on various classified ads.

Ok thanks for the info. I know that these are not very easy to breed. I am very eager to learn about the new species and set up an ideal enviroment for them. The species I plan to start with is Tylototriton kweichowensis since I can get my hands on them as of now. I am experienced breeding CFB and Fire Salamanders, but it does not much help since these are somewhat "uncharted" species.
