Eurasian Newts (Triturus, former Triturus, Calotriton & Euproctus).. Triturus and its relatives (Ichthyosaura/Mesotriton, Lissotriton, and Ommatotriton) are a diverse and widespread group of newts. While mainly European, several species can be found in the Near and Middle East. Euproctus, the brook newts, are confined to Corsica and Sardinia.

They are a beautiful newt, and one of the first I had. Here is my experience with them.

Thanks Otterwoman for posting these links. John piqued my interest about this species and reading the progress pretty much convinced me.

I have some Alpines in a 29 gallon and others in a 20 gallon. Both tank sizes work well. The 29 is deeper and the Alpines do seem to use the extra depth. Alpines are pretty cool!
