upon syphoning the debris out of my newt tank i think ive found a proper fertilissed egg. i can only discribe it as a frogspawn egg but way smaller. the bit in the middle is black with jelly around the oputside. the black bit in the middle has slit into four black bits. i cant post a phot as they dont seem to pick up the egg :/ is this an egg?

Hard to say from the description. Way smaller than a frog egg... that doesn't sound right. It'd be easier if you look at photos that ARE newt eggs and decide:

*update* i just checked the "egg" under a magnifying glass and its definatly a newt in there, the biddy is black and you can make out his shape, so out of about 12 eggs he was the only one that didnt get fungusy, i hope theres more to come!
