Hynobiid Keepers in the US?

This is a discussion on Hynobiid Keepers in the US? within the Hynobiid Salamanders (Hynobiidae) forums, part of the Species, Genus & Family Discussions category; Is there anybody out there in the US that is keeping, or even possibly breeding Hynobiids? This is my favorite ...

Hynobiid Salamanders (Hynobiidae) This group of Far Eastern salamanders are becoming increasingly popular in captivity, and thanks to the captive breeding efforts of one European hobbyist in particular (you know who I mean), they are becoming easier and easier to acquire.

Default Hynobiid Keepers in the US?

Is there anybody out there in the US that is keeping, or even possibly breeding Hynobiids? This is my favorite family of salamanders, and I find it disappointing that they seem to be non-existent in the hobby over here.

I have Hynobius tokyoensis, although it's my last one obtained several years ago. Should be able to get a few species though, once my income recovers from the move. I know people north of 49 with H.dunni and H.tokyoensis, and at least in past Pachyhynobius. South of 49 I know that various genera are kept.

I've been wondering if they were widely kept as well. I'd love a few but have never seen them available.

I know somebody in the US who kept Pachyhynobius... Before they were stolen...

I'd really like some Liua spp.

I have sources for both Chinese and Japanese species of multiple genera, but it's still a case of the budget not being there.
