Hi all, Very proud of myself for my accomplishment today... I have finally finished the set-up I started 3 months ago! I bought a heavy duty shelving unit and have bought tanks to fit it. Three species are now stacked on top of each other and have saved me two tanks of space in my house! (and no I shall not use that space for more newts... oh maybe just a little of it then!) The top tank is for my C/H orientalis, which have had a slight downsize as their previous tank was slightly larger. The middle tank is my first attempt at a 1/2 and 1/2 tank for my B. orientalis. The bottom tank is for my T. carnifex and is bare bottom as I have yet to wash their gravel. They're in my hallway which is quite dark so I've ordered some battery powered lights to attach to the underside of the shelves to provide the aquatic plants with a few hours light per day, and the B. orientalis with light. There's space under the bottom shelf for the air pumps and power cables. Sorted. I now plan to do the same again right next to it so I'll have 6 tanks and almost all my newts will be in one place. Oh also, big bonus, but in cleaning out the old orientalis tank I found a little newtlet! I took all the eggs out in April to raise so didn't expect this little guy. He's now happily munching on bbs (not sure what he was eating before?) .Let me know what you think.

| Member | I'm trying to do something similar. The space I currently have is a little tight. I would like to build the unit in the living room, but I have to get my husband to do some rearranging first. Earlier in the year, I found an 125 gallon tank on Craigslist for only $100 and I'm still trying to figure out how to work that into the house. Maybe if I have the 125 on the lower part and put my 55 above that. But I like what you've done

Well I'm glad you like it. To be honest the shelving was pretty inexpensive, only £33, as it is for storing tools in a storeroom or something, but it doesn't look ugly or anything. My problem was finding tanks to fit it! I had to order them specially made to the size but I sound a place that did the tanks for about £35 too, and he did a discount cause I bought 3. So all in all the whole thing cost me about £140 which, according to a currency converter is about $215. Not too bad I guess. Saved me a lot of space. I plan to do another one next to it too within the next couple of months.
