| So my friend finally gave me his 30 gallon. Or at least I think it's 30 gallon. It may be bigger. Anyway, It's been sitting on his back porch for at least a year or two and has enough grime on it to show it! Haha... Man, I gotta lot of work to do! Basically this will be an aquarium journal just to see the progress from day one and so on :P I was going to move my 2 juvie axies into this new tank but not 100% certain yet. Might want to put something else in. I'd love to get frogs but hate dealing with crickets. Here is what it looks like now, just brought it home. Needs a good bath! I'll probably clean it tomorrow and upload some pictures. Plus side is it came with light/hood. Although I'll have to gut the light strip and put better lighting in for growing live plants. ![]() ![]() I'll upload better quality pictures from now on. These are just cell phone pics. I'd like to have a lot of floating plants mostly and then just rock and wood. |

Hey just an update. Finally got it squeaky clean. I've been pretty lazy lately and didn't want to do it. lol.. It was pretty gnarly! Anyway, here's a clean picture and I'll start cycling it probably half way so that I can scape it easily and figure out what I'm going to put into it. Could just swap my 2 axolotls into it so they'd have more volume but floor space would be the same. Ooor, who knows. I've always wanted to keep fire belly newts so this might be a good tank for that if I can find some captive bred ones. Anyone have suggestions on something 100% aquatic and can tolerate higher temps (around 68F) Last picture is my red cherry shrimp tank just for fun :P And I included a picture of how nasty and dirty the light fixture is. That's how the tank looked! lol.. I'll have to gut it or just buy some nice lights second hand. |
