Default Alpine newt

I bought these recently I was told they where alpine newts I have had them about 3 weeks. They all had gills when I purchased them now I have 4 without gills and 2 with gills. Not sure if my tank set up is OK or if I truly have alpine newts I'm adding some pics

Hi, just wanted to say, yes those are Alpine newts, and it seems that so far you're doing pretty good. What I'd do for now is to watch them to see if any try going onto land, if they do and stay there for a while, you may have to move them to a terrestrial enclosure. my experience is that when they loose their gills they seem to forget how to swim and I drop the water level to about 2-3". They still go back to the water to feed but some drown if the water is too deep. In a month or 2 you can raise the water level again. I have apuanus and keep them fully aquatic except for this transition period.
