Exclamation Leeches on my salamander

I was looking in my spotted salamander tank today and noticed they laid eggs and so i removed them and looked for more and found that there was a leech on 1 on the salamanders i was wondering how do i get the leech of without hurting my salamander? thanks ,Cameron

Default Re: Leeches on my salamander

Take a little pinch of salt and sprinkle the leech it will shivel up fall off. Rise the Salamander immediately afterwards. The will be a wound left that will bleed. I would dabbed the area with a Q-tip covered with an anti bacterial creme. I would also keep the salamader on Clean wet paper towels for a couple days to allow the wound to heal without dirt and bacteria getting into in. Congrats of the breeding success!!!
