Question What's a good water height?

I've got some red-spotted newts in a 10-gal tank (soon to be a 55-gal!) and i usually keep the water at 4-5 inches...I figured it might be too low or high. What would the appropriate height be?

According to the care sheet Notos have been documented at depths as deep as 13 metres! Personally I would give them as much water as possible. The more water you can provide the more stable the water parameters are - which can only be a good thing for the inhabitants.

Adding the new water all at once should be fine as long as it is of a similar temperature and dechlorinated.
