Tubifex and brine shrimp are suitable for very small newts and larvae so it really depends what size yours are. P.waltl are probably one of the least fussy species when it comes to food. They are unlikely to refuse much! A good quality pellet such as the Rangen salmon pellet would be a fine addition although there is nothing wrong with a staple of earthworms.
