I have two female axolotls and my friend gave me a third. My two get on great and never fight. Would it be safe to put my other one in with them. She is about the same size. Can you get toys for your axolotls to play with? They seem a bit bored even though I put plants and scenery stuff in the tank. |

How big is the tank? You may want to quarantine the other one for a bit to make sure it has no diseases or problems first. When you put it in, make sure there are enough hiding places for all of them as that will ease tensions. As for toys, im not sure, I heard somewhere that some axies enjoy pushing around a moss ball, you could try something like that. Hope all this helps. |

You shud quarantine at least 30 days, just in case it has something and/or passes it onto your own 2 healthy axies. Axies probably seem bored to us because they just sit there and aren't as active as we would probably like them to be! Plus they tend to sleep during the day, and even at night aren't as active, apart from the odd movement when its feeding time! My parents always ask "what do they do?" and lose interest because they aren't moving. Our one nudges the moss ball in passing and when it moves follows/chases it; I think due more to their poor eyesight that they might think its moving food! Try measuring ur tank in cms or feet. A good guide is around 1ft/30cms per axie and an extra 1ft/30cms for good measure. Everyone has different ways of working it out but this one seems to work for me. Judging by this method u should at least have a 3ft tank to accomodate all 3 axies into adulthood (4 would be better). Less space means that they will be more inclined to pick on each other and you will have more work to do to keep the water quality good. The more water you have, the easier it is to keep stable. |

My two axies are about 20 cms and the tank is longer rather than high. About a one metre ruler. I guess I'll have to get another tank. Would it be safe putting another axie about the same size with it if its quarintened for a while What are mossballs? |

Mossballs are just what they sound like- balls of moss. Actually, it's algae, but as well as being a toy, it helps to filter the water in the aquarium. Here is a site: http://www.tropical-aquarium-plants....cdbd5b091159be |

It can hold up to fifty litres but is a longish tank rather than a tall tank if you know what I mean. Its twenty cms high and just under a metre long. The width is 30 cms as well. When my mum bought it the guy said it could hold fifty litres. Maybe he made a mistake? |
