Has anyone seen like a stringy type(mucus) thing sticking to your plants. I looked at my axies when i got in from worked and saw this stuff all over my plants. It kind of looks like the mucus from worms you know the stuff? If not when i feed my axies i give them a small red worm each and while they are trying to eat it, the worm produces this mucus. The stuff i have in my tank is like this but a little my brown, like thick spider web. Any ideas. Could my axies just be making the water go like this ? Is something wrong ?

i get those a lot. i think is where the plant leaves die or the axies chew on them certain plants get them more than others. sometimes it works to take the plant out and shake in water and the pieces knock off. after a while i put in a new plant.

I find that washing my plants helps too. I usually wash them in just a bucket of tank water, but I did read on the net to help get rid of snails and algae you can put them in a bucket of water and bleach. 1 part bleach 20 parts water. you soak them in this for 10 minutes then put them in a bucket of fresh water with extra dechlorinator for 10 minutes. I rinsed them off under water and put them back in the tank. This helped a bit. But i also found just picking the algae off was ok too, just time consuming if you have heaps of plants. Hope this helps

I have three sets of plants and they are covered top to bottom in this stuff. When i got the plants i washed the under tap water for ten mins and then i left them for a few days in a bucket with tap water, then i washed them once more and put them into my tank

Sounds like some "crud" from the tank that is being deposited all over. I would say just clean it off.

How long has your tank been set up? And how much/how often do you do partial water changes?

I used just normal household bleach. I didnt use any bleach with a 'lemon fresh' scent added because I didnt know if it was harmful. I think i used 'demestos' but I'm not sure if that is a aussie brand of bleach or world wide.

Do you use a turkey baster or anything else for spot cleaning? Sometimes that might help too.
