By rocks do you mean pebbles or river rocks? you can get any sand - i bought 25kg of sand from a hardware type shop for $4.. basically any sand that's not chemically treated is fine

If your going to sand... jut get ride of the pebbles/stones fullstop.

You can use play sand, pool filter sand, washed river sand...
The pool filter sand you can pick up at virtually any pool supply shop. The others can be picked up from a building/landscaping place.
Its really cheap stuff and looks great.

Bunnings also has play sand and washed sand.
Just be careful that what ever kind of sand your using, hasnt been near any kind of chemicals.

U'll need to wash the sand really well regardless of what sand your using.

If you do a search through the boards, containing the word "sand", youll find HEAPS on info/frequently asked questions.. already answered for you Click the image to open in full size.

Sorry... You just beat me Skylar Click the image to open in full size.

Also... like skylar mentioned.. if what you currently have are river stones... they look good scattered in various placed in the tank.. and are great for holding down your plants in the sand.

If they are just pebbles - get rid of them completely.

Hey Kim, I got my sand recently from bunnings. Only cost me $5 for a 25kg bag. I got play pit sand (white). It took a couple of days to settle but now it looks great. Havent got my axie yet cause the tank is still cycling. Oh and I live south of the river.Click the image to open in full size.
