Ok guys i have gotten another (grrr) asignment form my biology class. Its about evolution. I talked to my teacher and she said it would be a great idea if i did mine about morphing an axie. Just to get this clear I WILL NOT TRY TO MORPH MY AXIES, and NIETHER SHOULD YOU! I read posts on this site form the year 2002 or so that when you morph an axie you should do it before they become sexualy mature (This was said by John) I have reserched that iodine can be added to the water to push the thyroid glan in the axie into producing thyroxine. The question is how much! This is a crutial part , i need to know how much do add so i can get a accurate assignment, or i'll lose marks!. I also know thyroxine can be injected ( t4 and t3) again i do not know how much, can some one clear me up. Just as a reminder I WILL NOT MORPH MY AXIES, and i'll give a oath by god is i have to. In my last assignment i did it studing on the life cycle of an axie, and genetic make up (colouration etc, and i still dont get the genetic make up, i get it but i can really keep it in my head, it slips out) I got 135/140 and topped my year. So i want to top my year again and bring out another magnficent assignment. All the help would be great. |

In research, they don't do it with iodine, they use hormones or other chemicals. I'm sure your assignment will be even better if you give the exact amounts of the actual things used in research. Here is an abstract of a scientific article about induced metamorphosis. It gives exact amounts of thyroxine and dexamethozone. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/q...=pubmed_docsum |

Thanks for the information Jennifer. But i read that iodine makes the thyroid glan produce tryroxine, and the lack of iodine with an axolotl is what makes it not morph. Also i jsut found out feeding the actual thyroid gland to it works, does it?
